1.Acceptance of these terms

Welcome to MyBITS. By accessing mybitsapp.com or any campus subdomain (such as goa.mybitsapp.com) and by using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

MyBITS is a student-led initiative. It is not an official BITS Pilani application and is not operated or endorsed by the Institute.

2.Who can use MyBITS

MyBITS is offered exclusively to current students of BITS Pilani campuses who hold a valid institutional email address. Access is tied to your campus subdomain, and your campus is derived from your verified email. You must not share, sell, or transfer your access to anyone else.

3.Your account and sign-in

You sign in through Google's secure single sign-on using your institutional email. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that happens under it. One person may hold one account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

4.Acceptable use

To keep the community safe and useful, you agree that you will not:

• Impersonate another person, misrepresent your campus, or evade verification.
• Post unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, or sexually explicit content.
• Scrape, crawl, or attempt to extract data belonging to other campuses or users.
• Probe, disrupt, or attempt to bypass the platform's security or tenant boundaries.
• Use the platform for commercial spam, mass advertising, or any pyramid or referral scheme.

5.Peer marketplace code of conduct

The Peer Marketplace is a free, zero-commission service for active students. When you list or buy, you agree that:

• You will not list illegal substances, weapons, exam solutions, or anything that violates campus rules or the law.
• You are solely responsible for inspecting and verifying an item before paying by cash or UPI.
• Handovers should happen at safe, populated, on-campus locations such as hostels, the LTC, or library squares.
• You will represent items honestly and complete agreed trades in good faith.

6.Forum conduct and integrity

Campus forums exist for genuine peer assistance. We hold a zero-tolerance policy toward cyberbullying, harassment, and academic dishonesty — including posting live mid-semester or examination solutions. Posting under a pseudonym does not exempt you from these rules; moderators can map a pseudonym to a verified identity where the disciplinary process requires it.

7.Shared travel pools

Trip pools let students coordinate cab or travel shares and split fares. MyBITS only helps you find and join a pool; it does not arrange, operate, or supervise any transport. You are responsible for agreeing on fares, confirming co-travellers, and your own safety.

8.Zero-liability transaction disclaimer

MyBITS is a matching and coordination layer between students. We do not process payments, hold escrow, verify product condition, or manage transport logistics. Any sale, purchase, or travel arrangement is strictly between the participating students, who assume all transactional and safety responsibility.

9.Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant MyBITS a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and display that content to verified peers within your campus workspace, solely to operate the service. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.

10.Intellectual property

The MyBITS name, logo, interface, and underlying software are the property of the MyBITS team and are protected by applicable law. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the platform or its branding without our written permission.

11.Moderation and enforcement

We may remove content and warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that breach these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity. Serious violations may be referred to the relevant campus Student Disciplinary Committee.

12.Account expiry on graduation

Campus access is reserved for current students. When your institutional email stops validating — for example, after graduation or loss of institutional login — your access expires. Following expiry, your listings, forum history, and active profile associations are archived or purged as part of routine platform maintenance.

13.Disclaimers and limitation of liability

MyBITS is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the MyBITS team is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, from transactions or travel arranged through it, or from interactions with other users. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

14.Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of MyBITS is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bangalore, Karnataka.

15.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. We will revise the "effective" date above and, for significant changes, provide a notice within the platform. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
