What is MyBITS?
MyBITS is the student-built unified campus operating system for BITS Pilani. It brings class timetables, course catalog, exam schedules, faculty directory, mess menus, hostel life, a verified zero-fee peer marketplace, per-campus forums, and shared travel pools into a single workspace per campus — behind a single Google sign-in tied to your BITS institutional email.
Is MyBITS an official BITS Pilani application?
No. MyBITS is a student-led initiative built by BITSians for BITSians. It is not operated by or endorsed by the Institute. That said, sign-in is gated to verified BITS institutional email addresses (like @goa.bits-pilani.ac.in) so every workspace is real students only.
Which BITS Pilani campuses does MyBITS support?
The Goa campus workspace is live at goa.mybitsapp.com. The Pilani and Hyderabad campus workspaces are rolling out on pilani.mybitsapp.com and hyderabad.mybitsapp.com. Each campus is a fully isolated workspace — data never crosses campus boundaries.
Is MyBITS free to use?
Yes. MyBITS is free for every BITS Pilani student. The peer marketplace is also zero-commission — sellers keep 100% of what buyers pay, unlike marketplaces built for the general public. There are no plans to charge students for the platform.
Who can sign in to MyBITS?
Sign-in is open, but access is verified by email. Students on any BITS Pilani campus with a valid f<year><id>@<campus>.bits-pilani.ac.in address get automatic student access. Faculty and staff on campus domains get faculty access. Alumni and WILP addresses are restricted to public surfaces.
How is my data kept safe across BITS campuses?
Every database query in MyBITS is scoped to your campus at the ORM level — Goa users never see Pilani listings, forum posts, or student profiles, and vice versa. The isolation is enforced in code and asserted by the test suite in both directions. This is the platform's single load-bearing privacy invariant.
