Is the MyBITS marketplace really zero-commission?
Yes. Sellers keep 100% of what buyers pay — MyBITS charges no listing fee, no transaction fee, and no promoted-listing fee. The marketplace exists to replace informal WhatsApp resale groups, not to skim from student trades.
How is the marketplace safer than a WhatsApp resale group?
Every buyer and seller is a verified BITS Pilani student (email-checked), listings are moderated, buyers can favorite and report items, and messaging happens inside the platform — so there's a paper trail if something goes wrong. Scammy accounts don't survive the moderation queue for long.
What can I buy or sell on the MyBITS marketplace?
Cycles, mattresses, lab coats, laptops, textbooks, drafters, calculators, gadgets, and any other campus gear that BITSians typically resell. Anything illegal, unsafe, or against BITS Pilani policy is auto-flagged during moderation.
Can I sell to students on other BITS campuses?
No. Each campus workspace is fully isolated — you list to your own campus circle, on-campus pickup is the default, and cross-campus listings would defeat the safety guarantees. This is by design.
What happens if a listing turns out to be a scam?
Every listing has a Report button. Reports flow into a moderation queue reviewed by MyBITS moderators; verified bad listings are deactivated and the seller's account is flagged. Repeat offenders lose marketplace access. In a serious dispute, the BITS Student Council can be looped in.
